Reflecting on the Bird Flu & Hygiene

At the time of writing, I don’t believe I’ve caught the Avian flu. But hearing about how it could be the next pandemic, it brings to light how good hygiene education can decrease and prevent sickness from food products. For one, I love eating at hole in the wall restaurants, with cheap & good food. It’s quite an adventure, literally. It’s unsettling at times to think about where some of this food comes from or how it’s been prepared. But that’s why I’ve stopped thinking about it when I do eat at these places…hahaha..ehhhh…

But seriously, it’s been exciting to see over the last half year signs put up in many SH restaurants about washing your hands after using the bathroom or before eating food. But does this mean the end of these of my 4RMB bowl of freshly rolled noodles? Probably not, since it would mean severly crippling the economy of the rural populations who can barely afford to buy enough food for their families.

Ehh, I’m rambling..time for some bottled water…
