Here in Guangzhou

BBQ Pork!
Just droppin’ in an update from GZ, and it’s been a fun trip so far. I can’t count how many times I’ve had dimsum and Cantonese food with family here and nothing in Shanghai compares yet! GZ is also a very different culturally from Shanghai. For instance, you won’t hear the constant honking, and people WILL yield a seat on the subway for you if you’re elderly, sick, pregnant, etc. People are WAY more polite and a lot more people speak Cantonese! But there’s a lot more people that are speaking Mandarin too, so you can also get by here without it. Family here is doing well, and I’ve managed so far to not have anything picked from my pockets yet. Anyways, I’m almost ready for more food tonight so talk to you later!

Have you picked up your copy yet?

It’s out. Finally. Can’t wait to pick up my copy. Gotta friend bringin’ it into town this weekend.

Letters from a Sage

In light of the recent passing of my friend Micah, I’ve begun to realize how few and far between the poets and philophers are of our days. My friend was one of those rare sages, who shared and spoke and passed down the words and poems from people such as this from the ages.

Contemplation and reflection are lost in our generation, fixated on the quick fix and the now. Not to say there isn’t a place from the far-fetched humour of shows like Jackass (that we also heartily enjoyed watching together), but living in the now without remembering the streams of the past, nor contemplating the roads of the future leaves a shallowness replacing the depth that we truly require for our souls.
