Bad boys bad boys, whatcha gonna do…

So I went to Longyang Subway stop the other day, to cat ch the Maglev to pick up a friend from the airport. Having my tunes in my ear, through my oh so stylin’ in-ear headphones, I was in the groove. That is, until I approached the station. As I walked up towards on end of the station a person began to approach me and stood in my way. And in my insistence on getting around him, he would continue to block me off. Obviously thinking that he was a street vendor or someone trying to sell me something very shady, I tried to push him out of my way. Don’t you ever have moments you step not knowing what happens next?

So from my left, someone starts yelling and charging at me. Next thing I know, he’s grabbed my left arm, and began asking me what i was doing. By this time, I decided to take my earphones out to realize that I stumbled into the perimeter that a couple of undercover cops were holding down. Yes, that’s right. I pushed away a cop. Slowly I began to realize the folly of my mistake and began apologizing profusely. They asked me where I was going and told them to the airport. They told me to head in that direction and I more than readily obeyed. So once I got into the maglev, I began to ask a few questions on how this could have been handled better:
a) Why did the cop look like a street vendor? Obviously I had my headphones in, so I couldn’t hear what he was saying. So the only other way he’d be able to communicate to me was through his body language, and it was unfortunately pretty weak. However, the 2nd cop did a very good job.
b) Before apologizing profusely, should I have asked the cops for ID? I mean, they could have pretended to be right? To this date I still haven’t seen any ID. But then again, maybe I shouldn’t push my luck this time…

Tim Kao’s Interview on Shanghai List

Check out my friend Mr. Kao’s recent interview on Shanghai List. Great guy who pens great lyrics and loves to rock out. I was at the Shuffles bar that night and had a great time. Didn’t stay for the guitarists from XinJiang tho. I’ve been helpin’ Tim out with mixin’ a few of his songs. It’s been sweet surrender to get the first taste of his music.

Vancouver abduction victim freed, arrests made

CBC British Columbia - Vancouver abduction victim freed, arrests made

As my friend Reverb pointed out, it’ll be interesting to see who the perpetrators are of this kidnapping. I remember a story during high school of kidnapping/hostage taking by students that were unfortunately not bright enough to think of anywhere else to stake territory inside an underground parking lot. Don’t know if it was absolutely true, but with so many places to go, I figure they could have chosen a place with at least 2 exits…
